To compete in affiliated shows, the rider AND the horse need to be registered with SAEF.
Each horse will also need to apply for a passport from SAEF and get this completed by your veterinary surgeon.
You only need to apply for a SAEF horse passport if you don't already have an existing SANEF passport.

Once registered with SAEF each rider then needs to register with EACH discipline association that they wish to compete in.
Please note:
Jumping grading starts at 90cm for PR, Juniors and Adults. All shows will have recreational classes from 50cm- 80cm and then there will be the option of grading/ recreational classes from 0.90cm.
You may register with SASJ as a recreational rider until 1.30m, but should you wish to grade, you need to register as a graded rider from 90cm
Dressage also offers recreational & graded registration.
Showing registration is either Novice or Open
SASJ and DSA have recreational registration for your horse/popny too so use that option if you are not going to grade as yet.
There are no temporary memberships available anymore, except for Equitation.
All grades above these levels are classed as COMPETITIVE
