About BEC

The Border Equestrian Club was formed on the 16th of March 1990 at the Gonubie Farmers Hall during an inaugural meeting held between two existing riding clubs.

The new club was an amalgamation of the Gonubie Horse and Pony Club (established in 1973 and based at the present site from 1974) and the East London Riding Club (established around 1968).

The club is the only equestrian club in East London and the greater area catering for Show Jumping, Dressage, Equitation and Showing competitions. Events are held approximately once a month, be it a graded event or an unaffliated event.

We have a wonderful committee working hard at promoting the sport as much as possible, as well as continuously upgrading the grounds and equipment.

The best part of our club though is our members. Without them, there would be no club.
